HUBERMANN ERMEUS On September 2008, I moved from Haiti to the United States, I wasn’t able to speak or read a word in English. I only read and speak French Creole. It was a new beginning for me. I had to learn how to read and speak English just I did learn how to speak. My first time holding and trying to read a book was at four years old. The person who help me to learn how to read was my big brothers because my parents weren’t able to do so. Both of my parents quit school at a very early age to make sure my older brothers and sisters have a better living . I was highly encourage to learn how to read because my parents couldn’t read to me at times. They told me that if I didn’t know how to read people will like me. They will not treat me well as they treat others with respect and love.
